Louisiana Vacation

Rylee & Uncle Craig wrestle a bit.

Baton Rouge city center is barren on the weekends. From left to right: Laurie & Calyn, Dad, Mom, Aaron, Craig, Jeni, and Brian. Laurie was smart, she held baby Calyn the whole time and avoided getting dragged into the water. Mom on the other hand, had no protection.

Look at the smile on that face. This kid loves water, no question about it.

Louisiana Laughs

Protective Eyewear. . . bowling can be very dangerous if not executed with proper technique and a good colored ball.

Janna and the girls had their own lane and had a great time. Lauren actually got a strike.

I suppose I should have stopped her instead of taking a picture. At the age of 1 there is plenty of time for manners later. Note the "Warning" label on the chair pad. . . nice touch.

This was Uncle Brent's idea. We had some great laughs at these fountains in the city center of Baton Rouge. These fountains burst at random intervals and ascended to random heights.

Janna, Lauren & Rylee took a nice cool dip in Toledo Bend reservoir. It was a hot day.

Fathers Day, Waffles, & "The Tunnel"

Fathers day was a lot of fun, I don't remember why but all three of us were wearing bandana's at one point. Rylee wasn't too sure of the idea, although she thought it was pretty funny at first.

Rylee's favorite meal: Waffles and syrup. This is a kings meal to her and she demands to sit in the "Big Chair" and eat with a "Big Fork."

Not sure how she does it, but without help Rylee can get yogurt and ravioli anywhere.
"The Tunnel." The girls have this 6 foot fabric tunnel that is the source of more fun than almost anything else. Dad doesn't fit in it very well but, it's fun to try and hide in it during hide & seek. It also works supremely well as a secret entrance into the fort that we sometimes build in the living room corner.
The slip & slide comes out about every other day. Rylee just can't understand why it's not "her turn" every time. Sharing is still a very difficult concept, but she's learning.

Lauren absolutely loves the water. She would wear her bathing suit morning, noon, and night if it were clean that long. Last year she wasn't so sure about the slip n slide, but this year she can't get enough of it.
Lauren just completed her second year of swimming lessons. As you can see she is more distracted by the other opportunities that are outside of class than she is in the class itself. She is a regular fish and prefers swimming over any other activity at all.

Spinning, Hiking, Shucking, and the Court

We like to sit in the computer chair and spin around, it's a good time but I'm only good for a few runs before I can't take anymore. Family Home Evening at the park, Lauren chose the treats. Me and Rylee are getting ready to head up the trail toward Lewis peak, Rylee cheered me on the whole way. Eventually, I had Lauren on my shoulders also - I was sore the next few days. It was about a 4 hour hike. Shucking corn - FINALLY an activity where the girls can rip stuff apart and get praised for it, Rylee loved it (We need to go buy lots more corn). Adoption day. June 7, 2007 we met with Amy (attourney) and Brittany (case worker) at the courthouse and the judge gave us legal custody of Rylee and changed her name.

Some of my Favorites

Laurie readily posed for this photo exactly after instructed not to take pictures in the building. See if you can figure out what building it's in. . . Janna (pregnant with Lauren), Jeni, Mark, Craig, & Aaron came to take a look at the progress on our home before it was finished. Dad snowboards!!! Aaron digs in the "Black Hole of trash" behind the computer terminal to find my drivers license after the lady accidently dropped it in there when picking it up. We both took turns digging for about 20 minutes, it was awesome. This was when we were flying to New Mexico for to attend Grandma's funeral. America West flew us in First Class that day!!! We posed with Tim & Laurie's family in the Grandin Printing Press where the Book of Mormon was first published. Tim & Laurie took us to New York to see Hill Cumorah, the Sacred Grove, Joseph Smith home, and more church history places.

The Call Side of Things

Grandpa Call & Lauren enjoy a moment together. The three "Sons." Adam, Mark, & Collin. The three of us have a great time together, these guys are truly my brothers. Marrying Call girls was definitely the way to go. Sharon & John treated us all to a day of boating on Bear Lake. Adrian and Jane the Magnificent, Great Grandma Call. Annie, Lauren, and Sam, the source of havoc.

Grandma Pat.

We met Grandma at the park the other day, it was a very fun reunion. We flew kites, kicked the soccer ball, hunted for bugs, threw sticks in the river, and got sand between our toes in the park. When we got home, we had laundry basket races up & down the hallway.

Trees & Boogers

Is it normal for kids to enjoy having their nasals sucked out with the bulb syringe? Normal curiosity perhaps, or does it just make you feel big? She also does it to her bear.

Fun Times Together

Lauren the gymnast. Rylee's Easter egg hunt. Cookie tin races down the hallway. For our Family Night activity this week, we hooked Lauren up to a kite string and watched as she floated across the park.

My Girls

I have three girls that I am just nuts about. Story time at night with Lauren and Rylee is the crowning event of the day. Rylee is content to watch the story from my chest, and Lauren is so full of questions and wants to know why everything is the way it is. Lauren and Rylee have become an inseparable two-some. There is a connection there described only by words beyond the scope of a blog. And Janna is truly amazing, sincerely my best friend. She runs, reads her scriptures, creative, adventurous, she loves me, and she even plays in the sandbox.

Good Company
